Leadership Development Programs

Leadership U

Leadership U, offered by the Office for Academic Affairs, is a University of Alabama program to prepare faculty and staff in leadership positions to take on increasing levels of responsibility within their organization.

Provost’s Faculty Fellows

The Provost’s Faculty Fellows Program is an academic leadership opportunity for faculty who have an interest in learning more about academic administration.  Each year, fellows are selected to serve as a member of the Provost’s staff providing support for a specific strategic initiative in the Office for Academic Affairs. By providing more opportunities for faculty involvement and input, UA aims to broaden and increase our pool of faculty with experience in university-level leadership.

SEC Academic Leadership Development Program

The SEC-ALDP introduces early- to mid-career faculty administrators (e.g. department chairs, associate deans, etc.) to the broad landscape of higher education administration in order to enhance their understanding of the challenges and complexities of academic leadership. The goal of the SEC-ALDP is to be proactive in preparing faculty administrators for senior-level service in higher education by providing learning opportunities during two SEC-wide workshops and additional UA-campus leadership development programming. The Provost selects four SEC-ALDP Fellows each year from nominations made by the deans of each college.
