Provost’s Faculty Fellows

The Office for Academic Affairs is pleased to support the Provost’s Faculty Fellows Program, an academic leadership opportunity for faculty who have an interest in learning more about academic administration. Program participants will serve as a member of the provost’s staff providing support to a key strategic institutional initiative.

The Provost’s Faculty Fellows Program is designed to:

  • Provide a professional development opportunity for faculty who have an expressed interest in academic leadership and administration. 
  • Provide more opportunities for faculty involvement and input into the academic planning and strategic initiatives of the University.
  • Broaden and increase our pool of faculty with experience in campus-wide leadership experience.

Who is eligible?

Any full-time member of The University of Alabama faculty. 

What is the compensation?

Fellows typically have a 50% appointment in a leadership role in the Office for Academic Affairs, maintaining a 50% appointment in their home units.The Office for Academic Affairs works with the fellow’s home academic unit to provide a full or partial teaching release during their appointment. The appointment is typically for one year, fellows are provided partial funding to continue their work during the summer. They are also provided a modest discretionary travel and/or training budget to fund activities on campus, to learn about organizational and leadership structures and processes at other institutions of higher education, to participate in formal training opportunities and to attend relevant conferences in higher education.
