SEC Academic Leadership Development Program

Each year the Provost selects four UA faculty to participate in the Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program (SEC-ALDP). The SEC-ALDP introduces early- to mid-career faculty administrators (e.g. department chairs, associate deans, etc.) to the broad landscape of higher education administration in order to enhance their understanding of the challenges and complexities of academic leadership. The goal of the SEC-ALDP is to be proactive in preparing faculty administrators for senior-level service in higher education by providing learning opportunities during two SEC-wide offsite workshops and additional UA-campus leadership development programming.

Eligibility

Any full-time member of the University of Alabama faculty.  Participants must be available to attend two in-person conferences sponsored by SEC institutions, as well as campus activities.

Selection Process

Nominations are solicited from the academic deans early each spring semester.  A committee, including past fellows, review the nominations received from the deans and make a recommendations to the Provost on his selection of SEC-ALDP fellows. If you are interested in being nominated, discuss this opportunity with your dean.
